Como artista visual

Me considero creador de imágenes, proceso que surge en la interacción entre el arte y el diseño, y de un bagaje ancestral. Me interesa la relación entre la técnica digital y manual, el constante vaivén entre estos enfoques caracteriza mi trabajo.

En cuanto a los conceptos estos surgen desde mi primitiva infancia, sueños, una imagen o palabra que activa un universo, tomando forma antes o durante el proceso de creación, nunca es algo estático, sino más bien algo en constante crecimiento y movimiento. Cada material que utilizo tiene un bagaje emocional, un significado y una historia, que construye mi propio universo simbólico en contexto.

Mi obra explora conexiones que van desde el imaginario fundacional de mi infancia en Colombia, mi memoria sobre lo negro e indígena, descifrando mi identidad como artista, creando un relato visual influenciado desde el pasado mirando hacia el futuro.

Como poeta visual

Experimento en los límites visuales y morfológicos que existe entre el texto y la fotografía con la finalidad de generar una tercera imagen, llámese poesía visual. El material de trabajo es mi archivo fotográfico constante que he venido creando por medio de tomas con cámara digital y cámara celular, en relación con textos escritos en papel y vía e-mail.en distintos lapsos de tiempo y lugar. Generando así un espacio virtual en donde ambos confluyen y se potencian.

El criterio sobre el cual trabajo es a través de la interfaz digital, permitiendo un manejo amplio sobre la morfología del texto y la amplitud de la imagen, generando una secuencia en forma de díptico o tríptico.

Tener la libertad de deconstruir un texto sobre el cuerpo de una fotografía y viceversa, en donde indago diversas composiciones, formatos y lecturas de una imagen. Generando un atlas emocional, conformado no solo por un instante sino por una continuidad de ellos.

As a visual artist

I consider myself a creator of images, a process that arises from the interaction between art and design, and from an ancestral background. I am interested in the relationship between digital and manual techniques, the constant swaying between these approaches characterizes my work.

As for the concepts these arise from my early childhood, dreams, an image or word that activates a universe, taking shape before or during the process of creation, is never something static, but rather something in constant growth and movement. Each material I use has an emotional background, a meaning and a story, which builds my own symbolic universe in context.

My work explores connections that range from the foundational imagery of my childhood in Colombia, my memory of the black and indigenous, deciphering my identity as an artist, creating a visual narrative influenced by the past and looking to the future.

As a visual poet

Experimenting in the visual and morphological limits that exist between text and photography with the purpose of generating a third image, call it visual poetry. The work material is my constant photographic archive that I have been creating by means of digital camera and cellular camera shots, in relation to texts written on paper and via e-mail. Thus generating a virtual space where both converge and are enhanced.

The criterion on which I work is through the digital interface, allowing a broad management on the morphology of the text and the amplitude of the image, generating a sequence in the form of a diptych or triptych.

Having the freedom to deconstruct a text on the body of a photograph and vice versa, where I investigate different compositions, formats and readings of an image. Generating an emotional atlas, shaped not only by an instant but by a continuity of them.
